What is Theopoetics?

The first question I get when I tell people I have a Masters degree in Theopoetics and Writing is- What is Theopoetics? In essence- theopoetics is the study of the religious imagination. It centers around meaning, mystery, and metaphor. Theopoetics uses imagination to wonder about where meaning can be found in the mysteries of the world and uses metaphor to connect people through stories of common humanity.
